Westminster Hall Debate on Deafness and Hearing Loss 30th November 2017
30th November 2017
Well done if you wrote to your MP, asked them to go to the debate, and ask questions about the cap to ATW.
Almost all of the MPs talked about the impact of the cap to ATW on Deaf people, and asked the the government remove the cap or make it higher. Rosie Cooper, a CODA, spoke really movingly about a many issues, including the cap. Many of the MPs mentioned the Deaf people and interpreters who had written to them, and explained why the cap is a problem.
BSL interpreters were there, so Deaf people who came could watch the debate.
The full transcript available of the debate is available here.
You can watch the debate (without subtitles).
The government sent Steve Brine, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Public Health and Primary Care, to respond to the debate. So he could not respond to very much, as he isn't responsible for most of the areas.
